Parsi News and Blogs

It is with a heart full of reverence and joy that I share news of a truly momentous occasion. We are on the threshold of celebrating a century of divine blessings, a milestone that resonates deep within the soul of our community.

This 29th of November 2025—Roj Sarosh, Mah Tir—marks the Centenary of the Shree Navsari Pak Atashbehram Building.

A Century of the King's Radiant Home

For 100 glorious years, this beautiful building has served as the sacred throne for our beloved Shree Navsari Pak Atashbehram Padshah Saheb.

It's vital to understand what this means. An Atashbehram, the "Fire of Victory," is not merely a fire; it is a living, breathing spiritual entity, the highest grade of consecrated fire in our faith. We refer to it as "Padshah Saheb"—our Spiritual King.

While the sacred fire itself is ancient, tracing its lineage back through centuries of our history since our arrival in India, the building that currently houses it, which has protected and sheltered this divine flame, is celebrating its 100th anniversary. For a century, its walls have absorbed the holy vibrations of our Manthras, witnessed the unwavering devotion of our Mobeds, and provided a focal point of spiritual solace for countless Humdins.

This is a centenary of bricks and mortar sanctified by the eternal, radiant presence of our Padshah.

A Day of Thanksgiving and Joy

The Navsari Atash Behram and Vadi Daremeher Fund & Bhagarsath Committee have organized a beautiful programme to commemorate this historic day, inviting all Humdins to join in the celebrations.

The day will begin, as it rightly should, in service to our King.

  • 6:45 a.m. (Standard time fala ni machi): The day commences with a Contributory Machi. The Machi ceremony, performed during every Gah (watch) of the day, is the offering of sandalwood (kathi) to the Padshah, a symbolic "enthronement" and offering of sustenance. A contributory Machi on this scale signifies our collective gratitude and devotion.

  • 8:45 a.m. (Jaher Jashan): A Jaher Jashan (a public Jashan of thanksgiving) will be performed. This powerful ceremony sees our Mobeds unite in prayer, invoking the blessings of Ahura Mazda and the Yazatas, and offering gratitude for the 100 years of the Padshah's divine guidance from this very spot.

  • 10:00 a.m. & 11:30 a.m.: Following the Jashan, a programme will commence in the Atashbehram Hall, leading to a community lunch (Jaman) at Jamshed Baug.

A Beautiful Lesson in Community and Respect

In a small but profoundly meaningful detail, the organizing committee has kept a nominal coupon of Rs. 10 for the lunch.

This isn't for profit. As the invitation beautifully states, it is "for the purpose of meal calculation and to avoid wastage of food." Any amount collected will be contributed to the Kathi Fund of the Atashbehram—the fund used to purchase the sandalwood that "feeds" our Padshah Saheb.

This single gesture captures so much of our Zoroastrian ethic:

  1. Respect for Food: Avoiding waste (anaj-no-bigad-nahi).

  2. Community Participation: A token contribution to affirm one's place.

  3. Charity: Ensuring all proceeds go directly back to the service of the divine.

An Invitation to All

This isn't just a celebration for the residents of Navsari. It is a heartfelt call to all Humdins, near and far. The invitation explicitly provides details for "Outstation Humdins" to register and participate.

This centenary is a reminder of our enduring faith. It is a testament to the generations who have tirelessly tended to this sacred fire, ensuring its light never diminishes.

May the divine, radiant light of our Shree Navsari Pak Atashbehram Padshah Saheb continue to bless our community, guide us, and illuminate our path for centuries to come.

With prayers for our glorious faith and community.

Powering a Greener Tomorrow

These solar panels, designed to have a lifespan of 25 years, will significantly benefit the Gram Panchayat by ensuring uninterrupted street lighting and will also support the village’s composting machine, thereby reinforcing the community’s commitment to a greener, more eco-conscious future.

Acknowledging Key Contributors

The CGU Trust extends its heartfelt gratitude to Sarpanch Dharmendra Patel and Deputy Sarpanch Sarosh Irani, who expressed appreciation for the Trust’s annual contribution of ₹9 lakh toward waste management through a private contractor. They further encouraged CGU to expand solar installations to enhance community benefits.

A special acknowledgment was also given to Mr. Dinyar Edulji of Concast (India) Private Limited, whose unwavering support was instrumental in bringing this visionary project to life.

A Model for Future Generations

As part of its long-term vision, CGU is now seeking donors to sponsor a composting machine, which will further strengthen Udvada’s sustainability initiatives. Contributions toward this noble endeavor are warmly welcomed, and interested individuals are encouraged to reach out to the undersigned.

Conclusion

This landmark event reaffirms the Trust’s mission to establish Udvada as a model eco-friendly community, inspiring collective action and fostering hope for a sustainable future. Through innovative solutions and community-driven initiatives, CGU continues to pave the way for cleaner energy, reduced environmental impact, and a more sustainable tomorrow for Udvada and beyond.
